Admissions for vacant seats in the pre-primary and primary classes at Delhi’s government-run Sarvodaya schools have commenced for the 2025-26 academic session. The admission process is underway and is being conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents can visit the official website, edudel.nic.in to check the list of over 400 Sarvodaya schools participating in the admission drive.
The official circular issued by the Directorate of Education reads, “ Admission to Entry Classes i.e. Nursery / KG / Class-I for the Academic Session 2025-26 in all the Sarvodaya Vidyalayas under Directorate of Education is running. Now, it can be possible that few seats may be lying vacant in Pre Primary and Primary Classes in the current session. Therefore, to make optimum use of the resources, it has been decided to admit students against these vacant seats, if any, in Pre Primary & Primary Classes manually on First Come First Serve basis in all the Govt. Sarvodaya Vidyalayas”

Sarvodaya School admissions 2025-26: Where and how to apply

Only students residing in Delhi are eligible to apply for Sarvodaya school admissions. Selection will be based on proximity to the school, as per the following guidelines:
  • Children residing within 1 kilometre of the school.
  • Children residing within 3 kilometres of the school and having no other Sarvodaya school closer to their residence.
  • Children residing within 3 kilometres, even if other Sarvodaya schools are located closer.
  • Children living beyond 3 kilometres must submit an undertaking to the Head of School (HoS) confirming that safe transportation arrangements are in place.
Parents or guardians must fill out the Sarvodaya School Admission Form 2025 and submit it directly at the respective school where they are seeking admission.

Sarvodaya School admissions 2025-26: Admission guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education

To ensure uniformity and transparency, the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi has laid down several important guidelines for Sarvodaya Vidyalaya admissions.
  • Each pre-primary and primary class must maintain a maximum strength of 40 students.
  • Seats will not be declared vacant merely based on long absences unless there is verifiable proof of a student’s admission to another school.
  • Students absent since the previous academic year and not traceable — or already enrolled elsewhere — will be considered to have left, and their seats will be opened for new admissions.
  • Priority will be given to transfer requests from other Sarvodaya schools.
  • All schools must display updated vacancy details clearly at, the main gate, Principal's office, help desks and notice boards.
